French Ticking Stripe Relaxed Roman Shade — Spoonflower Cotton, Custom Size

A relaxed Roman shade cut and sewn to your window, in Modern French Ticking Stripe — a vintage-inspired red and medium-blue stripe printed on a soft tea-tan ground. It is a quiet pattern with a lot of warmth in it, the kind of stripe you find on old French mattress ticking, and it settles into a kitchen or a bathroom without asking for attention.

How it is made

The relaxed shade is a flat panel with a gentle curve at the lower edge. When the shade is down it hangs almost flat; as it is raised the bottom rail draws the fabric into a soft smile, and the folds stack loosely rather than in crisp horizontal pleats. There is no dowel in the hem, which is what gives the style its easy, unpressed look.

Each shade is made in our Toronto studio, one at a time, to your measurements — accurate to 1/4″. The mechanism, brackets, screws and printed installation instructions are included in the package.

Fabric and lining

Spoonflower Petal Signature Cotton®, design Modern French Ticking Stripe by franbail. Choose Polycotton lining for a soft light-filtering finish, or Blackout lining where you want the room dark. Blackout is a paid upgrade and is priced into each option below.

Control

Chain — a continuous-loop chain mechanism, left or right pull, specified at checkout. Cordless — lift the shade by hand, no operating cord, the usual choice where children or pets are in the room. Motorized — a rechargeable tubular motor with a remote.

Wide windows

For shades wider than 50″ in this fabric, the shade is constructed with two symmetrical side seams — one on each side, mirrored from the centre — to achieve your custom width. On patterned fabrics the design is carefully pattern-matched across seams.

Please leave a note with your exact measurements (width first, then height), which side you want the control on, and whether the shade is mounting inside or outside the frame.

Made to order

Every shade is cut for one specific window, so these are not returnable. If anything about sizing is uncertain, write to us before ordering — we would much rather talk it through first.
