How do I measure and install my Roman shade?

Measure the exact width and height of your window. For an inside mount, give the opening size and we make the necessary deductions. Video guides cover how to measure, inside installation, and door installation.

What fabrics do you use, and how do I care for them?

Natural linen and cotton fabrics. Choose your colour in the fabric selector on the product page. Spot clean or dry clean.

How long does shipping take, and what does it cost?

Every shade is made to order in our Toronto workroom and ships within 10 days or less by tracked courier. Free shipping to the USA and Canada. US customers pay no duties under CUSMA/NAFTA.

Can I return a custom-made shade?

Made-to-order shades are sewn for your exact window. If anything is wrong on our side, we remake it. See our Promise and Warranty page for details.

Do you sew to exact fractions?

Yes. We sew to 1/4 inch precision, so you can enter sizes such as 36 1/4 inches.

What is the largest shade you can make?

Up to 105 inches wide by 120 inches high. Contact us for oversized orders.

What does the warranty cover?

Will a custom Roman shade fit my window?

Yes. Send your measurements and we will show you how to take them. Every shade is cut and sewn to your exact window within 1/4" (a quarter of an inch), and we send an approval sketch before we cut. If our mistake makes it wrong, we remake it.

How long does a made-to-order Roman shade take?

Your shade is made to order in our Toronto workroom and ships in 10 days or less. Most custom window treatments take six to eight weeks; ours do not.

Can I return a custom shade?

Custom means it is made for your window, so returns are not available. That is why we double-check sizing with you first and send an approval sketch before cutting. 2,000+ five-star reviews, and if it is our error, we make it right.

Do you offer blackout lining and cordless options?

Yes. Choose soft blackout or dim-out lining, and chain or cordless operation. Cordless is a child-safe choice for nurseries and bedrooms.

Light comes through this one. A relaxed Roman shade in 100% sheer linen filters daylight into something soft and warm, and the gentle curve at the bottom keeps the whole window from looking stiff. Made to your window, by hand, in our Toronto workroom.

Six colours: Utopia Arctic White, Utopia Natural, Flax Linen Ivory, Shannon Natural, Brent Grey, Utopia Aquamarine.

How the classic relaxed shade is built. There are no rods (plastic inserts) or rod pockets in the front fabric layer; instead the rods are sewn into the lining layer on the back. With polycotton or sheer lining, light can pass through and highlight the rods at the back — with a full blackout lining you would not see them, though we do not recommend blackout behind a sheer fabric. There are no horizontal stitches — only several small handmade stitches hold the front fabric and the lining together, and those same stitches help the shade fall into straight lines when it goes up.

Wider than 50 inches. For shades wider than 50″ in this fabric, the shade is constructed with two symmetrical side seams — one on each side, mirrored from the centre — to achieve your custom width. On patterned fabrics the design is carefully pattern-matched across seams.

Measuring and tolerance. Measure to the nearest 1/4″ and give us the width first, then the height. We sew to the same 1/4″ precision. Tell us your control side (left or right) and whether the shade is mounting inside or outside the window frame.
